Michael was ten years old when he was first introduced to Diana Ross. Diana was very much impressed by the performance of Jackson brothers including Michael at Motown. She promised them to help them as much as she could and little Michael was surprised by her promise.
Michael looked at Diana puzzled. I think that was the first time when the Michael got butterflies for Diana. Still, he was just a kid.
Michael started living with Diana in her Hollywood home and Diana would guide him every day. Surely, Diana Ross had a great impact on Michael's upbringing, also Michael was fascinated to this beautiful lady.
According to J. Randy Taraborrelli, who had known Michael for 40 years said,"Michael was obsessed with Diana Ross".
Back in 1980, when 18 years old Michael was asked by a journalist, 20/20, "Any close friend", and he said, "Yes, Miss Ross". When further asked, "Are you saying that you are going to marry her?", he replied, "Oh yes!, I did", further added, "What does age have to do with it?". I think this was the first time when he actually fell in love with her and was not ashamed to declare that in public.

In Michael's autobiography Moonwalk 1988, he addressed Diana as his mother, his sister and his lover.
Even Tarabborreli wrote that when Diana got married for the second time to some Norwegian Multimillionaire named Arnie Naess, Michael did not attend the wedding. Michael said himself that he was jealous because he had always loved Diana and always would.
I think love has been very unfair to Michael because he could not get the lady he loved so much neither he could dare to tell her candidly that how much he loved her. Poor Michael!
Michael and Diana attended the Academy awards together back in 1980 and the ways he was looking at Diana can be predicted by anyone that he was so much in love with Diana. From his behaviour and the facial expressions and how was checking out Diana reveal a lot about Michael's true love for Diana.

Unfortunately! Diana did not love Michael the way Michael did. Diana used to see a son like figure in him but Michael used to see an image of a lover in her. It was Michael's setback that when he thought that Diana would marry him, she bombarded Michael with her marriage to Arnie Naess.

See how Michael is checking out Diana and how gloomy he looks
Michael was so upset and depressed that he did not forget to mention his love for Diana in his songs like Who is it, Dirty Diana, Girlfriend and Just Good Friends. If you look at the video of "Who is it", then you will find that he had mentioned her name once and changed her husband's name from Arnie to Alex. But, we are his diehard fans after all and we know everything what he was trying to show in his music video. Lols!
Even Michael Jackson's childhood friend Tatum O'Neal who was once very close to Michael that Michael said once that he developed feelings for Tatum, said, "Michael was in very much love with Diana Ross". So, here we can say that Michael's love for Diana was not hidden from anyone, not even from all his Brothers and his Mother.

It is very obvious that Diana Ross was Michael's love of the life and though he married twice, he did not seem pretty much happy as he used to be when he was with Diana Ross. In 2002, he showed again that he had not forgotten her first and true love by mentioning Diana's name in his will as the guardian of his 3 children after her mother, Kathrine Jackson.
I just wish Michael would have married Diana Ross and have his own family. He lived his life without love and being lonely. I wish him a lot of love up there in Heaven. RIP Michael Jackson!
